Why I Am Running

Our individual liberty and our freedoms are being taken away by legislation that interferes with our rights to make personal decisions for ourselves and our families, and our locally elected leaders are being subjected to legislation that removes their local control. Taxpayers are funding an increasing number of court challenges against many of these laws.

In recent years, I’ve seen a disturbing trend toward extremism in Idaho politics, which I believe is very destructive and not representative of the majority of Idahoans.

I want to empower Idaho communities to develop solutions to local problems.

I strongly believe that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." When communities have the resources they need to provide programs and services for Idaho families, like excellent schools, childcare, foster care, mental and physical healthcare, and affordable housing, they will be less likely to have problems with drugs, violence, school dropouts, homelessness, etc.

I want to work towards ‘depolarizing’ Idaho politics

Extreme political polarization is causing destructive animosity between parties and individuals, preventing much needed collaboration and creative problem-solving.

As a trained ambassador and workshop facilitator for Braver Angels, whose mission is to “bring Americans together to bridge the partisan divide and strengthen our democratic republic,” I want to use my skills to provide a framework for “Bringing Idahoans Together” to listen to each other with respect and collaborate to develop reasonable solutions that benefit all Idahoans.

As a creative problem solver, I have a strong work ethic and have learned skills from my teaching experience and my training with Braver Angels that allow me to communicate effectively and respectfully with everyone. I will always look for ways to find common ground in all discussions where there are differences of opinion and ask questions to discover more about why people are taking a particular position on an issue.
